Ingredients

  • 1 package (2 ¼ teaspoon) Fleischmann’s Quick Rise Instant Yeast
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water, warm to touch
  • 3 tablespoons neutral oil
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Fleischmann’s Baking Soda
  • Melted butter, to finish
  • Cinnamon sugar, to finish

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment add yeast, sugar & water. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Add oil, flour & salt. Knead on low speed until dough becomes smooth & elastic, about 5 minutes.
  3. Shape into a ball, transfer to a greased bowl, cover & let rise until doubled in size, about 1 ½ hours.
  4. Divide dough in quarters & roll each quarter into a 1-inch-thick rope. Slice into bite size pieces.
  5. Bring a large pot of boiling water to a boil & add the baking soda. Boil each piece of dough for 30 seconds & transfer to two lined baking sheets.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375(f) degrees. Bake until golden & cooked throughout, about 15 minutes.
  7. Brush each piece on both sides with melted butter & toss in cinnamon sugar. Serve immediately.
